The Heat advanced to the 2014 NBA Finals by blowing out the Pacers 117-92 in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals in Miami on Friday.

Miami’s victory secured the franchise’s fourth consecutive Eastern Conference title. The Heat, who started the playoffs as the East’s No. 2 seed, went 12-3 (.800) against the Bobcats (4-0), Nets (4-1) and Pacers (4-2) on their way to the Finals. Miami is now 48-16 (.750) in the playoffs against the East since LeBron James left Cleveland for South Beach in 2010.

“We know we still have work to do, but we won’t take this for granted,” James said during a post-game interview on Friday.

James finished with 25 points (on 8-for-12 shooting), six assists and four rebounds in Game 6. Chris Bosh added 25 points (on 10-for-14 shooting) and eight rebounds for Miami, who defeated Indiana for the second straight time in the East finals. Paul George led the Pacers with 29 points (on 8-for-18 shooting), eight rebounds and two assists in the loss.

It’s been nearly 30 years since an NBA team has advanced to the Finals for four straight years. The last franchise to do it was the Celtics, led by Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish, who went to the Finals from 1984 to 1987, winning titles in 1984 and 1986.

Although Michael Jordan’s Bulls won six titles in eight years during the 1990s, they never advanced to four straight Finals because of his two-year retirement to pursue a baseball career. The Shaquille O’Neal/Kobe Bryant Lakers won three straight titles from 2000-2002, but they never advanced to four straight Finals. The Spurs have won four titles during the Tim Duncan era, but they have never advanced to the Finals in back-to-back years, let alone four consecutive times.

Miami coach Erik Spoelstra, James, Dwyane Wade, Bosh and company are seeking their third straight title. The Heat would join the Bulls (1991-1993 and 1996-998) and Lakers (2000-2002) as the only teams to three-peat in the last 45 years. The Celtics, led by Bill Russell, won eight straight titles from 1959-1966 and the Minneapolis Lakers, powered by George Mikan, won three straight titles from 1952-1954.

James, 29, also has a chance to join Jordan and O’Neal as the only players to win three straight Finals MVP awards. After falling to the Mavericks in 2011, James guided the Heat past the Thunder in five games in the 2012 Finals and the Spurs in six games in the 2013 Finals.

The Heat will face either the Spurs or Thunder in the Finals, with San Antonio holding a 3-2 series lead over Oklahoma City in the Western Conference finals, with Game 6 set for Saturday at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Game 1 of the Finals, which will be played in either San Antonio or Oklahoma City, is set for Thursday, June 5.

Who care which teams are in the finals. The NBA is more rigged then the WWE. Just watch the refs, they are more incompentent then the officials in pro wrestling. How many are on the take like the guy a couple of wears ago was??

I cannot believe this is on Page One of the AOL Welcome Screen when there is so much other news of importance.  I don't give a hoot about this.  If AOL wants me to see this story, it should be on Page 45.

Wish Jordans Bulls teams were playing now they would wipe the floor with the heat.

Who watches this crap anyways? The majority of people have no idea who's playing..  It's a dying league.  If I could cancel the channel it comes on I would but it's a package.  90 percent of the people in the stadium are white, these are the people actually paying allot of these idiots salaries.  And 99 percent of the players are black.  Do you see a problem here?  I see a lockout coming and this is not he NFL.  It's going to sink like a rock and I don't care.

Raise your hand if they are excited to see this self-made "Dream Trio" in the Finals again.

Yea, me neither.  They SHOULD be there - the EAST is a horrible conference; if they had come out of the West then that would have meant something.

I have read some the posts.......There ae several sour-pusses........The Heat is a good team.......They have done what is necessary to eek out wins.  In Basketball on any given day you lose/win....Basketball unlike other sports is very unpredictable.  Case in point.  Game five.  Miami looked like a bunch of peewee league players.  Game six a power house........No one, no one should ever take anything for granted.........No matter the outcome for the Championship game.......Two teams have excelled over the rest.  Good luck to both teams in the finals.........

Lebron and Company?  I thought that there was no "I" in a team?  Oh but wait, with Lebron it's only about him!  The and company have to give into him and make sure he has the ball or he sits down and cries like a 2 year old!  I'm for anyone playing against Lebron and Company!

@RaylaNJohnny "its a dying league" and yet here you are. Clippers sell for $2billion, try again bigoted troll. Saddest part is whats in your picture, says "allot", I sense "allot" of either self hatred or you secretly hate the woman who bore your kids.

Shawn86

@RaylaNJohnny The NFL is 70% black, NBA is 80% black, the difference is not that significant. America runs as a free market system and the best athletes should be rewarded as such. NBA league television ratings have been climbing for years. I can only hope you don't pass this ignorant blind racism down to your children.

@deliveryguy317 They'll end up being 2-2 in those 4 finals. They really should be 1-2 right now.

@REHenkelBrem you are a fool... he is one of the best passers in the league, and someone almost any other NBA player wants to play with.... he is often CRITICIZED for passing too much... do you even watch the games?

@REHenkelBrem You obviously don't watch the game so you should shut up. He shares the ball more than ever so don't spread LIES. Some people hate winners b/c they are losers themselves and the only accomplishment they feel is by trying to bring others down. Please grow up.

@REHenkelBrem -You idiot, he took less money to come to the HEAT and others with more knowledge than you, say " he is the most unselfish superstar", in the league!

He could score 50 every night, if he chose to but the team and championships come first.

3-PEAT coming!!

parkerstreet

@REHenkelBrem If LeBron were greedy with the ball, he'd EASILY average 6-10 POINTS MORE than his career 27.7 points per game. You can't possibly believe this garbage that you've written...

Cool
Cool

@REHenkelBrem Just how stupid and blind to facts does one have to be to make such a ridiculous comment?  Have you ever actually watched him play?  Lebron passes up many shots that he could drive to the net and opts to feed it to a teammate.  He sat out the entire 4th quarter last night, and all he did was encourage and cheer on his players.  You might take a moment to listen to interviews with Bosh and Wade before you make such a stupid.. and I might add.. really stupid.. comment about how it is all about Lebron.  They made a pact and from all interviews since that pact, they all feel they have lived up to playing as a team and not individuals.

@rogue2474 @Mike26 Because the teams in the West are so beat up after having to play MUCH better competition all three rounds.   Most of the lEast wouldn't sniff the playoffs if they were in the West.

@hugh @Cool @REHenkelBrem Every time he misses a shot he cries like a baby and claims he was fouled.  Whenever he makes a shot he flaunts himself at the crowd.  He is a whiner and an egotist.  If his head was any more swollen he wouldn't be able to walk through a doorway.  He thinks the whole game is about HIM.  Pathetic.
